Description:As the tide returns to a rocky beach, the limpets begin to roam around, scraping off the fine film of microscopic algae with their chain of teeth (radula). Viewed under polarised light, the radula looks like a section of a zip fastener with bulbous teeth at regular intervals on either side. In the centre are a chain or regular, comb like finer teeth. |
