Description:A leaf of the Scarlet Oak in Autumn. The narrow pointed lobes set it apart from the more familiar English oak. Near the end of its life, the colouring reflects the export of nutrients from the leaf with the lower half and the regions following the veins being light brown, whilst in the upper darker, redder brown half, small islands of dark green remain. |
