Description:

The Equisetum of Horsetail family of plants have been with us since the age of the dinosaurs and are still very successful (as anyone trying to eradicate them can attest)! Here a flower cone is shown lying on its side. Just under the protective surface are numerous spore bearing elements, visible as ovals with the spores as dots inside.
