Description:

Sand collected from various locations can differ remarkably, not just in colour but also constitution. This Cornish sand is particularly rich in a wide variety of different minerals, giving it its darker colour. Hunstanton beach sand is mainly quarz with organic debris such as the microscopic shells. One beach in Costa Rica has sand so rich in iron that it behaves like iron filings.
